How do I install new LG 4K Monitor drivers???

Hi, I have 2 monitors set up that the NVIDIA panel correctly identifies by brand - HOWEVER, Windows 10 Device Manager still shows them as Generic PnP Monitors with the 2006 Microsoft drivers.

This was brought to my attention because I just installed a new 4K LG Monitor and downloaded the 2021 drivers from their website. There is no executable in the .zip So I just tried updating the drivers manually pointing to the files in this folder and Windows keeps telling me that the drivers are up to date as the best Generic PnP Monitor drivers...

So not only is the Device Manager still showing me the monitor(s) as Generic PnP but also keeps showing 2006 Microsoft drivers.

How do I install the LG specific drivers?? (Once this is solved I'll likely have to do the same for the 2nd monitor)

What kind of files are on the Zip file? (*.Sys, *.cat, *.inf)?
Did you extracted the zip file to a folder?

You should NEVER hide known file extensions (explorer options). It is the best way to execute a Virus thinking it is a document.
Ex Girl.docx.exe (is a executable file) will show as Girl.docx (a MS word file)

Go to explorer options and disable hide known file extensions.
Lets see what you have on the Ultra HD folder

You have not displayed the file extensions, as noted above a security risk and a windows default setting.

1st is .cat those bottom two are ULTRA HD.icm
    and ULTRA HD.inf respectively.
Those just tell Windows the specs of the monitor, .inf file, and a colour profile, .icm file.

In fact those specs are sent by EDID info over the digital connections like HDMI and DisplayPort. So not really required.

So all the 'Driver' files do is name the monitor and a colour profile.

Generally, you need to right click the .inf file and choose the "Install" option.

Your driver's .inf file does have the "Install" option.

    Thanks everyone for chiming in.

I followed the steps that many know of here:
Fix Generic PnP Monitor problem on Windows 10 (Solved)

HOWEVER, in Step 2, it doesn't say to use "Have Disk"..
And in my case, that's what I had to click in order for the proper .inf to be detected.
I then was able to choose between installing the LG DisplayPort or the LG HDMI.

Not sure why I have to pick one or the other.
It was also confusing that the driver details show a date of 2015, but the LG site shows a download update 2021, which contains the 3 files seen in my previous screenshot all dated 2017. Not sure why that is ?

    What specific LG monitor?

I have a LG 27UK650-W. I installed a package for it that not only included the .inf and other files, but also a utiility for some display modes. (I haven't used them.)

It has indeed installed, no worries.

That article just covers a more complicated way of doing the same thing.

I just double click on the .inf file to install.

You should find if you use HDMI then the name will change to ....HD (HDMI).

Does not matter about the nominal date of the 'driver' files. They may re-use the same files for a number of their monitors, just bunging in a section for their latest ones.
