Yellowish tint on new Asus Monitor with VGA cable and adaptor

hi,i have just bought this adaptor > Rankie 1080P Active HDTV HDMI naar VGA-adapter (stekker naar bus) converter met audio voor pc, monitor, projector, HDTV, Xbox en meer: Amazon.nl there's something odd, i just used the provided vga cable so brand new and the tint on the edges of the fonts is a bit yellow, that is with night light on i want to use night mode on, is better for the eyes and have no problems using it on my laptop. With my normal laptop screen everything looks perfect.

Why there's this extra yellow-ishness when i connect with the VGA cable, plugged with this new adaptor? the VGA is really really yellowish, the other one a little bit, barely noticeable, same monitor settings too

any ideas? i alrea tried to change colour profile and nothing changed.otherwise i will buy a new hdmi cable, they didn't provide one with the screen so i thought to cut the problem and get an adaptor instead.

    and now this.

    ufffffffff

    thnaks,

Basically if you want help on this topic you need to provide data people can work on , such as screen brand and model , GPU brand and model , windows build , specify weather a laptop and pc , its brand and model as people like to search if these have a history of discoloration as those photos do not show much maybe due to not being done by good camera or maybe bad compression on upload .

Yet let me hint this , all video converters I came across in my life were troublesome , the built in small cable in between both ends wear out very quickly , audio may become static , too loud and distorted or even gone . Some need a 5v 0.5 amp adapter , some need 5v 1 amp adapter and mixing which may result in discoloration or artification or maybe wavey lines that persist to display on screen , I honestly keep two genuine phone adapters around handy for these sorts of tests as even unbranded adapters may cause problems , mind you I never buy one of those converters unless they themselves are branded to save me time on trouble shooting despite these come expensive and not guaranteed to work fine still .

So bottom line if you can dodge a converter dodge it like a plague .

    gabgab, something else to consider:

VGA is horrible . Sorry to be so blunt, but if you were purposely looking for the worst possible connection type, you've pretty much found it. VGA is an analog standard as opposed to all modern standards which are digital. Analog signals degrade with length of cable, cable quality is hugely important, any sources of electrical noise can also drastically affect VGA especially with poorer quality cables.

However, I'll second what @nIGHTmAYOR noted - some additional details would be helpful so that some suggestions geared toward your specific hardware could be made.

    hi guys

so what happened is that i bought this external screen and they didnt send me a hdmi cable but just a vga so i thought to get just the converter and that's it, however i see it could give lots of issues.

    anyway

Laptop is ASUS VivoBook S15 S510UQ
Nvidia Geforce 940 MX / Intel UHD 620
    Windows 10 2020 H2 19042.746
Screen is Asus ASUS VZ249HE-W 24 Inch (23.8 Inch) Monitor, FHD (1920 x 1080), IPS, Ultra-Slim Design, HDMI, D-Sub, Flicker Free, Low Blue Light, TUV Certified, White: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories VZ249HE

i know VGA is old tech but i thought let's use it.

Anyway i just ordered a new HDMI cable.

but still would be interesting why there's so much yellowing around the letters which my Asus laptop screen doesn't do, maybe it's a better screen or some settings can be tweaked or simply use the HDMI cable?!

    cheers,Gabrio

Asus sent me a new replacement screen under warranty, top service, 3 days in and out with UPS, they collected the old screen and gave me a new one, didn't even send to the repair place. this "new" one is perfect.

    love Asus!

That's good to hear. It's always good to here when a company provides good service.
