    Turn off monitor problem

    Hi
Sometimes I need my PC to keep working even though I'm not there, so I want to turn off my monitors, but if I do that and then when I turn them back on again later, all the apps that were on second and third screen have moved to screen one.

Is there any way to make all apps stay where they are ?

Using Windows 10 pro 64 bit fully updated.
    2 x 32" screens 2560x1440 in 125% font + one drawing tablet 1920x1080 in 100% font.

    Thanks in advance
    Best regards

    Hi Edwin
    Thanks for your answer

I'm not sure what You mean by that, I don't have that menu item at all and I want to turn of my screen.
I have tried both turning of the power to the screen and also turning off the screen using power saving feature, both gives the same result: messing up all app positions.

In my old windows 7 I could turn of the power on the screens when I left my work space and back on when I came back and everything would be as I left it.

    Hope there is a fix.

The tutorial will show you how to add the entry to your right click menu...

... the only drawback in Windows 10 is, there's always so much going on in the background on Windows 10, eg. Defender, etc., that the displays will probably be lit when you return!

But that does not work either, it also mess up the position of all the apps and folders.
I'm a programmer so I have tried using:

    SendMessage( Handle, WM_SYSCOMMAND, SC_MONITORPOWER, 2 );

Which in essence should be the same as what you suggest.

I think Microsoft believe this is a feature, I think it is supposed to make sure that no app is out of reach when you go from a dogging station with large screens to only having the laptop screen.
I just hope there is a way to turn of this feature.
