Screen Flashes after 12/2020 Windows 10 Update

    Hello everyone.

I searched Internet and could not find any information related to the problem.

I have two Dell desktop PCs running Windows 10 Pro version 1909. I decided to upgrade to version 20H2. Everything was fine until I installed latest 12/2020 Windows updates. After rebooting and logging in I was presented with flashing screen and PCs were unusable. So I restored backup and went back to version 1909 on both PCs.

But not such luck with Dell laptop with Windows 10 Home version 20H1. The same flashing screen happened after December 2020 updates. I restored good backup and disable Windows update. Well, today I turned laptop on and Windows update was running. After rebooting and logging in I got the same flashing screen and unusable laptop.

Here is video of the flashing screen :

    Any help appreciated.

    PS.

Is it possible to disable Windows Update service on Windows 10 Home Edition so service does not restart by itself?

What's your problem? That's not the least bit annoying.

Also: I like to light myself on fire and jump out of planes because that, too, is not the least bit annoying.

I read that article, but I don't see how those three known issues are related to my problem.

The problem is that after that cumulative update is installed and computer reboots, screen flashes, and computer becomes unusable. I can only do two things:

    Press CTRL+ALT-DELETE
    Open Task Manager.

    That's it.

And as I said in original post it happened with two Dell desktop PCs with Windows 20H2 and one laptop with Windows 2004.

I thought the wink made it clear I was going for levity. (Your video showed exactly how annoying.)

I realized that after I replied. No problem.

In the meantime I restored good working Windows 2004 (20H1) images on laptop, disabled Windows Update and Windows Update Medic Service services and will wait for January, or February, or March, or Windows 2104 updates.

No updates. I went back to 1909 and will wait for 21H1 (maybe). And so far Windows 10 1909 is the most stable OS on all of my 7 desktop PCs in the house.

And actually 20H2 was working fine after original install. It was that malicious December 2020 update that messed up.

    Miklos,

Do you have AMD video drives by chance? I have suspicion it may be related to video driver. But it is just a guess. And I did not want to waist time to troubleshoot.
