    nVidia Settings Not Loading

    Hi.

a couple of time now, very randomly, when i boot up the machine doesn't apply my nvid settings. when i first built/set-up the machine, i used the nVidia Control Panel to set up the gamma etc as the standard load is too bright for what i need, and this usually comes into effect no bother. This time i checked, and although the "use nvid settings" button was selected it was still showing the default bright set-up. i clicked to "use other applications" and back to "use nvid" and it changed fine to what i wanted. can't see anything in the event log that suggests a trip-up, anyone have any ideas?

    cheers

you need to clarify if at times it was working fine it was same driver or another driver , also what is GPU model and maker , also what is windows build you are on .

so this is happening a bit more regularly now, when i boot the lock screen image will come up and then darken as it loads my settings, then it will brighten again as it seems to discard them. when i get onto my desktop and r/click and bring up the nvidia control panel, it's still got the "Use nvidia settings" radio button clicked but the screen is the brighter/default/whatever settings. if i click the radio button again, it sets the display to my correct setup. i click apply, and then next time i boot it does the same thing. there's nothing i can see in the events related to this, any adivce/suggestions?

    TIA

It is a symptom nVidia had acquired since fall creator update on some of its GPUs
[Windows 10 Fall Creators Update]: Color settings made in the NVIDIA Control Panel are not preserved across a system reboot or restart. [2009433]
It was reported on since driver 388.13 (Link here : Nvidia has released their new 388.13 WHQL driver | OC3D News)

And been appearing on and off with every driver release .

Complains on nVidia forums regarding that matter are never answered (Link here : https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce...-after-reboot/ and here https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce...t-on-a-reboot/ )

So basically all you need to do is staying current with nVidia drivers update namingly the desktop version hoping an update resolves it for you .

Thanks @nIGHTmAYOR, i've got the latest drivers and the card's a bit old now so i'm guessing they won't be rushing out any new one; i'm glad it's just a minor niggle rather than a full-on graphics problem.

    FFS.
this resetting of settings started happening every time i switched on and was really getting on my nerves, so i ended up blatting the drivers and going right back to an old old driver. been solid for a good few days, today i turn on, and it resets the colours again. i check the Control Panel version and it's back to the new one - 'ing windows has downloaded it according to my updates list despite me having set the updates to not download any other products etc. why has it done this and how do i stop it from doing it again??

    TIA

I used to have the same problem where it wouldn't apply on reboot. Removing all the groups & adding full control for Everyone under the security tab in C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation fixed it for me.
