    Windows 10 Uses wrong display

I am using windows 10 on an older (9 years) Toshiba Satelite laptop.

Instead of using the built in LCD screen, windows sends the display to the auxiliary port. I have tried the windows P key but nothing happens when I select output to both displays. No matter what I do, I cannot change the display to the LCD display. I have also tried the Settings/System/Display/Detect. does not work. I do not want to buy a monitor for this. I am temporarily using one of my TVs as a monitor, not acceptable!!!!

    What gives????

Itis not the LCD screen. I also run Ubuntu and it has no problem using the LCD screen. The first part of the Windows boot up, the spinning dots, show up on the LCD screen but then every thing disappears.

Oh you should of mentioned all that in first post. When did this start happening? Did happen after an update? Try updating driver from manufacturer support site.

This all started when I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 a few years age. I used to be able to get the display to go to the LCD screen but every time there was any upgrade to ANY software, I had to go to the same process of re-configuring the display. I got so frustrated that I loaded Ubuntu and have been using that, Now I have a new laptop and would like to give my old one to two of my grandchildren. I don't want them to have to go through this process every ti,e there is an upgrade.

Just so you know, I went to the Toshiba website and downloaded every display driver there and tried them one at a time with no luck,

Unless someone has any suggestions other than what I tried, I will cluse this and load Ubuntu and show the kids how to use it.

    Thank you for your help.
