How much for a NEW EVGA 1080 SC Gaming?

Hey, guys. I was wondering how much to price my graphics card. I just got it as remuneration for a warranty claim. They gave me an entirely new 1080! Well, I guess I got lucky because everything is out of stock. So, they only had a new one to give. The box is entirely sealed and mailed directly from EVGA. I can provide proof of everything.

It's a EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 SC GAMING ACX 3.0 (08G-P4-6183-KR). The listing on Amazon is:

It's selling for $670 on Amazon. How much do you think I can sell it for on Craigslist? I'd rather not sell it on eBay since they take their 33% pound of flesh as commission. Is there another good website to sell it at?

A friend who used to do a lot of eBay stuff told me that Facebook Marketplace is the current hot place to sell. I have not tried it yet, and haven't checked what their fees are. I tend to think of Craig's list as for local sales for items too heavy to make shipping attractive, but I haven't used it yet.

I wonder who would pay RTX 2080 Super prices for a GTX 1080 (not a ti)?

Maybe 33% is a bit of an exaggeration. I haven't sold an item in about 2 years so I forget the exact percentage. I remember that it's almost exactly the same as Amazon's when they used to allow anyone to sell. I have a spreadsheet somewhere that calculates the amount I paid them in commissions. That includes PayPal and other fees like shipping which always ends up being more than what PayPal considers it will cost. Maybe it's closer to 20% which I think is still pretty much gouging considering how ghetto the website is.

Did you get your RTX 2080 Super for $660? Please let me know where you got it because I would love to pick one up at that price. I actually would love to get a 3080 for $800 but I think that's just a marketing scheme by manufacturers. A few people got them at that price and have bragged about it but it's only a few people. I think they are trying to make used graphics cards useless so that when the 3080s really come on sale, the price will skyrocket. We'll see.

I was hoping to get like $600 for a new EVGA. Maybe that's a little optomistic.

it's a "GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2080 Super GAMING OC". It was $740 plus tax from NewEgg in August of 2019. It wasn't the cheapest 2080 Super at that time.

I'm slightly shocked to see their current prices on the 2080 Super. And that the only ones in stock are from third-party sellers.

You probably know better than me. From my understanding, the RTX 2000 series' performance is only marginally better than the GTX 1000 series. The only initial difference between the 2 was that the RTX 2000 series had the ability to do real-time ray-tracing. However, Nvidia later released a driver that gave the 1000 series the ability to perform the same ray tracing. So, the two series aren't that off as people think. For example, the GTX 1080 Ti actually outperforms the RTX 2060 so people should be and are paying more for them. No?

The big jump is the 2000 series to the 3000 series. There is a performance jump of 50%. I'm wondering if you can really buy 3080 TI for $1000 in January 2021 as promised.

I think that the ray tracing offered with the 10 series cards is a bit weak compared to doing it in hardware with the 20 series cards. Example: Nvidia’s latest driver brings ray tracing to GTX-series graphics cards - The VergeI'm not sure that most would, or should, care.

Has a 3080ti been "promised"? I have read of it being "rumored". The lowest priced 3090s are $1500 recommended retail, so if the 3080ti comes to market, it'd have to be between that and the 3080 ($700). The arithmetic mean of the two is $1100. The geometric mean, $1025. (I doubt that's how pricing will be determined.)

You're right. It's actually pretty good of you to be so precise with the worse unlike me. It's not been promised but rumored that the 3080 TI will come out in January. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Will Launch in January 2021, Says New Report - MySmartPrice.

I was thinking whether I should get a used 2000 series card now or I should wait for a 3080. You're completely right though. I don't know if there will be even any regular 3080s on the market in reasonable volume any time soon. Some people are getting them but I don't know if it's just a scheme by Nvidia to just release a few to drum up huge demand for them and as price creeps up, put them on the market at a high price.
