I signed up to these forums just to say thanks! Thanks so much nIGHTmAYOR for creating this driver. I was finally able to successfully update my laptop to 20H2 and all is working well. I thought I was going to have to upgrade my system but now I'll be able to continue using it. I've even noticed an improvement using SolidWorks to do 3D modelling. I'm running it on a Dell Inspiron N5110 with HD3000 graphics.
An abstract from opening post , you may stick to windows defaults with 32 bit windows , accelerations/tweaks wont help much with it .There is no 32 bit version as in this era staying with an OS that can only handle 3 GB
of RAM while the GPU itself require 1.759 GBs of shared memory meaning any attempt
to use such platform is a joke .

I have just installed your driver successfully. Just one question: After installing Windows 10 on my Thinkpad T420 beginning of 2020 I now quite often have very high CPU use when browsing/scrolling even very old nearly plain text websites, scrolling by arrow keys is lagging and the screen is building by square by squre visible by the human eye. It seems to happen when/after I try to play a youtube video (forced to h264 for hardware acceleration puposes), youtube played via VLC player or even the spotify desktop client in the background? I just wonder, is this a defect of the driver that could be fixed or do I just overburden the HD3000 with my 2560x1440 resolution? According to GPU-Z the GPU is not at 100% use. And It works totally smooth just like it used to with Windows 7 and the low resolution display most of the time.
Has this effect always been present and is it just exacerbated now due to the high resolution display that I began to use shortly after the Windows 10 upgrade?
My hope was that your driver would fix that... But it didnt.

The acceleration tweaks do not tamper with CPU usage , try to figure what uses your CPU by running task manager in detailed view then sorting by CPU usage descending and see what process use the CPU as much .
Would be nice to report back your finding even if you get yourself sorted that way .
Well in task manager the CPU loading comes mostly from the applications I mentioned, that is my browser, Chromium based Brave browser in my case, or the VLC Player. The desktop window manager process also sometimes eats up to 20-30% of my CPU capacity.
I just wonder, is the chromium hardware acceleration a problem here? Or is it the driver? Or a mish mash of both... I mean this computer used to handle HD videos just fine.
But if the computer is in "lagged, high cpu scrolling mode" this also applies to the old Internet Explorer or Firefox rendering engines that tried.
Because I'm having error "The setup program failed to install one or more device drivers."

Anyway I run "Mild Over-Clocking On" even though the modded drivers are not installed. And do not see any performance boost.
Its not the driver , the driver has no control over your cpu . I am thinking something though , you either have a small amount of rams or have a generic sata driver installed or both .
A primary solution would be that you need to install your manufacturer's sata driver or one from intel known to support your chipset and see if things got slightly better , else check to see if you can upgrade your ram .
Usually when cpu is utilized to the max by an app this app performs spectacularly while everything else stutters . but if the app itself start stuttering , then in that case you can be most certainly sure that its either having less rams than expected (8 gbs) or hard drive degraded speed (result of a faulty sata driver) may both be bottle necks .
Also a side notice , I expect you do service your laptop fan every now and then and keep your laptop cool .

The driver was not tested on windows 7 but it has all it takes to run on windows 7 . You can try removing your older driver using ddu , then unplug from the internet so windows wouldn't force install a different copy on you , then start applying the steps accompanied by the driver in order . Any other scenario , such as ignoring the steps may result in such failure you came across .
The acceleration routines of the driver are many , and mild over clocking is just a minute part of it , the GPU doesn't support over clocking in first place but the registry hack allow for a very very mild boost that may allow for a couple of fps increase .
This might seem negligible but every squeeze of acceleration count on these relic gpus yet accompanied by other tweaks the overall performance boost had been noted and recognized by many .
