Windows can't shut off screens if I have 2 screens connected

Hi, I have a PC with Windows 10 Home x64, last build/version. The PC has an i5 10600 and a GTX 1070, with 2 screens from ASUS: one via HDMI and another one via DisplayPort, both connected to the GPU.

The problem is that when I have 2 screens connected, Windows can not shut off the screens after 20 minutes, it doesn't work no matter how much time I put, not even the screen saver comes in after setting it to appear after 5 minutes of inactivity.

I'm quite savvy about PCs and W10 configuration, the install is fresh, everything is fine. Indeed, if I connect only 1 monitor, suddenly it all works fine, the PC shuts it off and the screen saver also works. It's something about dual display what unleash hell.

I've tried to see if the nVIDIA control panel has any option that is cancelling this out, but I see nothing related to this. It's really annoying that the 2 screens stay turned on always, the only thing I can do is locking the PC, in which case the secondary screen turns black, not even off, and the primary screen... stays on. A real waste of electricity.

When you use the 'Power' button on the bottom left of the start menu, and select 'Sleep', does the PC go to sleep and put the monitors into stand by mode?

Yes, it goes. What does not work is the settings that set a timer for the display to turn off, and also the screen saver does not work at all neither, it doesn't show after the idle time has passed. The PC turns on, shuts down, goes to hibernate/sleep perfectly fine, it is simply the setting to turn off the screen automatically after 20 min of idle. Only in dual screen, when I only connect 1 monitor everything works fine, the screen saver works and the screen turns off after 20 min.

There are many times when I leave the PC room and don't come back for an hour or more. It's these times when I miss this feature. Or sometimes I'm downloading something or doing something in the background, leave the PC as it is, and after 20 min it should turn the screens off.

I run a dual monitor setup with no problems, are both of your monitors the same? If they are go into display settings (right click for menu) on your PC and make sure both monitors are set to the same resolution, look at 'Advanced Display Settings' as well to make sure they are set up correctly, if they are then the fault lies elsewhere. You can also try setting the 'Make this my main display' option to the other monitor for a while and see if this makes a difference (If you do this test, don't forget to swap the 2 monitor squares (top of menu) by dragging them).

They are not the same, but almost, both from Asus, same resolution and Hz. A pretty standard regular set of dual displays. The work in every way except in these 2 points: screen saver does not appear and they won't turn off even if set after 20 min.

There doesn't seem to be any reason why your setup doesn't work? Have you tried this with the screensaver off?

Exactly, no reason, that's why I came here, hoping I find someone smarter than me about this topic that can tell me what is going on.
