Media players are maximizing screen brightness

    Hi,

Both VLC and Media Player Classic are maximizing my screen brightness, which I do not want to happen.

I tried to disable "adaptive brightness", this came through Google troubleshooting, but it appears Windows 10 has removed that option in the recent version.

I am on Win 10 home, regularly updated.

Any other workaround? After spending a long time on Linux, I am forgetting Windows a bit.

Can you list the specs of your PC ? Is it a Desktop or Laptop ? If Desktop are you disabling the Intel graphics in bios ? if Laptop what brand and model , also what is your driver versions on all installed cards ?

    Hi,

    Here are the specs: Acer Nitro 5 Ryzen 5 Quad Core, - (8 GB/1 TB HDD/256 GB SSD/Windows 10 Home/4 GB Graphics/AMD Radeon RX, 560X) AN515-43-R2M9 Gaming Laptop.

I could somehow fix the problem with MPC. But I wanted to use VLC. Could not find a solution in the VLC forums as well. This this laptop, full brightness is too bright.

For all available tweaks regarding brightness for amd / windows : https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/dh-005

You can try disabling adaptive brightness by commandline in case you still have residuals of it : Enable or Disable Adaptive Brightness in Windows 10

You can also try to manually adjust brightness in VLC : How to Increase Brightness and Contrast of Videos in VLC

Thanks a lot. Disabling Adaptive brightness from CMD and reinstalling VLC has worked. The issue is gone now.
