gray/dead pixel can be fixed ?

Bought new monitor and found it has two very pale gray or dead pixels, anyway RMA is painful and want to avoid if there is any possible fix ? The monitor is QHD the pixel does not appear at all unless I am at very close distance but would be nice to fix.

    Thanks.

Search the internet and you will find a whole lot of suggested actions such as gently massaging the area with a damp warm cloth, etc. Personally, none of those have ever worked for me.

Also, you should be prepared to possibly be denied an RMA for 2 dead pixels. A certain number of dead pixels is considered "normal". About the only company I know of that is an exception is Dell on some lines of monitors.

A dead pixel is a defective pixel that remains unlit on an LCD screen. Dead pixels are always black and are most noticeable on a white background. A dead pixel occurs when the transistor that activates the amount of light that shows through all three sub-pixels malfunctions and results in a permanently black pixel. Dead pixels appear black while stuck pixels can be one constant color like red, blue or green. Dead pixels can not usually be fixed.

However, intermittent dead pixel can be fixed it using the pressure method-there is no harm trying.

If you come across LCD Monitors that has a stuck pixel (a point on the screen that is always lit), it is usually due to a transistor malfunction or uneven distribution of liquid in the liquid crystal display (TFT LCD). This can often be fixed.

A stuck pixel is a common pixel defect on LCD screens. Stuck pixels are most easily noticed on dark or black screens where it will appear red, green, blue, or any combination of the three colors including yellow, purple or even white.

The dead pixel are the once, whose one of the three sub-pixels are permanently off, producing a black pixel.

Visit below website to turn your LCD Monitor to any background you prefer.

    Dead Pixel Locator

    How to Fix Stuck Pixel?

The Pressure Method can be use to try repair stuck pixel.

    1. Turn “On” the LCD Monitor and display a black image so that you can clearly locate where the stuck pixel is.

    2. Use a damp washcloth and fold the washcloth around your finger so that when pressure is applied, you won’t scratch the screen.

    3. Gently apply little pressure (massaging) on only the stuck pixel area otherwise you may create more stuck pixels. While still applying pressure you can turn the screen off and back “On” again for several times

    4. Continue to apply the pressure on the stuck pixel until it totally gone (sometimes the stuck pixel may appeared again so you have to do it few more rounds).

    5. If the stuck pixel is still there even after you have used the pressure method then I guess you have to use the software method.

Stuck pixels can often be re-energized by rapidly turning them on and off. There are screensavers available for download that will do this to your LCD screen.

JScreenFix – A website that randomly turns on and off each pixel at up to 60 times a second to fix stuck pixels.

DPT 2.20 – A Windows application to help locate and identify dead/stuck pixels. It also has a pixel exerciser built in to possibly get lazy pixels working again.

UDPixel 2.1 – A free Windows application which help you to locate and fix 1 or more stuck pixels.

If the stuck pixels still won’t go away even after you have run the software for many hours, then it could no longer be repaired and the only way is to replace the LCD panel or just send the LCD Monitor back to your customers telling them about the problem.

Normally customers will accept it as one or two stuck pixels won’t really affect them. If the LCD Monitor is under warranty then you have to inform your supplier about this but usually the supplier only will replace if there are more than 10 stuck or dead pixels in the LCD screen!

Dead/Stuck pixels are not known to be found on newly bought reputable brands due to the application of quality control measures (hardware testing in different phases of production to insure the hardware is not defective even at the slightest amount) , however with cheap (often referred to as White Box brands) there is a high possibility they come up with these and that's what makes them cheap (Because they save on quality control) so buyers of these should expect a little poorer quality than reputable brands , having only 1 or 2 of these makes you close to a jack pot winning , I have once bought a Somy 7.5 inch car touch screen that basically does everything in the world for under a 100$ that came with 80 stuck pixels , and to be honest I still use it till date :)

P.S I know its killing you , you being a perfectionist and all , but I suggest you save your time , all the above methods are pretty similar to removing scratches from glass screens , designed to tire you so you finally surrender and move on :)
