Win10Pro Install Doesn't Correctly Identify AMD Graphics Card

Have installed Win10Pro and in device manager my AMD graphics is not the correct type. I have an AMD Radeon HD8800M but the system shows it as AMD Radeon R9 M200X. Initially it didn't pick up the correct Intel graphics but a driver update sorted that one properly.

If I try to update the AMD driver using the driver download from the AMD site my laptop hangs and I have to repair the windows installation. It also wont let me uninstall the device and add it back in as legacy hardware.

There must surely be a way to have Windows identify the hardware and let me install the correct driver.

The laptop drivers from AMD are generic (as in work on a number of models in a range), the only way i am aware of for getting the exact naming for a particular OEM model is to use their driver.

Here's an older 'How-to' for install of generic driver, Laptop graphics update...How to | Community
If that fails, you might do better asking on the AMD forum.

    Ok, sorted now.

Apparently, according to the AMD forum the AMD Radeon R9 M200X is the new name for the AMD Radeon HD 8870M. Why change, and why on earth not make it obvious on your support pages when someone googles it?

Anyway, installed the AMD drivers (Adrenalin 2020 v20.4.2) and all seems ok now.

So actually Win10Pro could be said to have identified the AMD graphics card correctly, just like those of us of a certain age in the UK who will always identify "snickers" with "marathon"...!!!
