    Video Card Upgrade Advice Needed

I'm looking to upgrade my Video Card from my current GTX 960 for use with a new 43" 4k TV that I am using as a monitor at 1440p. Full 4k makes everything way to small for my old eyes to see.

What I need advice on, since it's obviously been awhile since I've purchased a new Video Card, is what card would work best for using a 4k TV as a monitor with some mild to medium gaming tossed in the mix. Most of the games I play are not very graphically demanding. Mostly RPG type stuff and a few first person shooters. Left 4 Dead, Portal, Star Trek Online, maybe some Civilization etc.

I'm currently looking at the following; (the GeForce X60 cards have proven to be a nice sweet spot for me in the past)
    Radeon 5700 (XT)
    GTX 1660 (S)
    RTX 2060 (S), RTX 2070 (S)

Obviously cheaper is better, but, I have up to a maximum budget of $500 to spend on a new card. I would also like to get a little bit of future proofing while I'm at it. I tend to do upgrades at 3 to 5 yr intervals, or as finances allow. I am on a fixed income so each upgrade needs to last as long as possible.

Any advice for the best all around general usage card for my use case is appreciated. If there is another Video Card I should consider, by all means, throw it out there. The ones I listed are just the top recommended cards for my display size/resolution that I have been able to find online at the various review sites.

    TIA.

    System:
    Windows 10 x64 (Ver. 1903, Build 18362.959)
    FX 6300 (3.5Ghz)
    16GB DDR3 (1866)
    GeForce GTX 960 (2GB)
    Corsair RM750X

    Hi,
    2070s.
Albeit a 8gb card should be good for a while and perform best.

The 2070S is where I was leaning. I would love a 2080, however those are just too far out of my price range.

    Thanks for the advice.

Well, if you act before the 2nd stimulus check gets announced, you can get a 2070 super for $500. As soon as that stimulus check gets announced, the vid card prices will sky rocket... again.

    Here ya go...

Asus GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB DUAL EVO OC Video Card (DUAL-RTX2070S-O8G-EVO) - PCPartPicker

Changed to one in stock. The prices are already going up.

    /e And here's a 2070 non super...

Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 8 GB WINDFORCE 2X Video Card (GV-N2070WF2-8GD) - PCPartPicker

Unfortunately, I won't actually have the money for a couple of weeks. By the time I get it together, the prices will be whatever they'll be. I'll have to take my chances at the time. Thanks for the links though. I'll keep and eye on them.

    ETA:
Just out of curiosity, what do you all think would be the minimum video card for my use case? Would a 2060 or 2060S be viable? Maybe a 1660 (Ti)? Just in case what I want is sold out or out of my price range at the time I get the money together.

I'm not sure I'd push the envelope in buying a new graphics card for a PC with a 12 year old CPU (FX-6300).

Maybe a GTX 1660 or 1660 Super. You'd be getting a Turing card, without the raytracing capability (which is probably irrelevent to you).

I'm not current with AMD cards. I have used them in the past, but preferred nVidia's drivers.

Well, the plan is, get the GPU now since I need it to power the 4k TV, and then within the next 12 months or so swap out the MB, CPU and memory. I figure the new GPU would be good for several years of my use case at least, so,... it should be fine for the 6 to 12 months it will take me to swap the rest of the stuff.

I just don't have the finances anymore to rebuild everything at the same time, and since the GPU is the most expensive part,... I figured I'd start there since I will have a decent chunk of cash and have a current need.

My primary concern is running my 4k TV at 1440p, for general computing and the few games I do play, with decent performance. I'm not seeking max FPS since I don't play really any "high end" games.

I'm just looking for better performance than my GTX 960 is capable of.
