Always prudent to have a disk image ready when things go sideways.
If you haven't already tried this method -
Download the drivers from NVIDIA.
In Device Manager, right-click on the device and select Properties
Click on the Driver tab and select Update Driver
Click Browse my computer for driver software
Click Let me pick from an available list of drivers on my computer
Click Have Disk and then Browse to the path where you saved the NVIDIA drivers.
Yes, My PC gets a full C:\ disk image twice a day and a file and folder backup every day. Easy and quick to restore with Macrium Reflect.
The problem is not that I can't update drivers. Only after using DDU does that happen - installer says "Drivers not compatible with this version of Windows" (Which is v1809 x64). I can install ok as long as I don't use DDU to uninstall.
All versions I've tried since 441.87 create this folder. I had 441.87 installed for four months and this folder was not created, it just started happening a week ago.
So is there a reason your not on 1909?
Absolutely.
1. Buggy as hell.
2. If I remove components they get restored when a Cumulative update is applied
3. I have 10 PCs to upgrade. Before any PC is updated I go through an extensive testing process. That takes about 4 months to cover every program and driver. I haven't had time to do that because my test PC is in use by my son who is staying with us atm.
4. There is absolutely nothing in 1903/9 that makes a compelling argument to upgrade. 1903/9 and 2004 offer absolutely nothing of any use to anyone here over 1809.
We've had the exact opposite experience.
No issues on 1903 or 1909.
Then you are lucky, and I sincerely congratulate you on your luck. I hope it stays that way. I suspect you might be running a vanilla image? I don't - I remove all the bloat. I care about privacy. But even on vanilla images when I did my initial round of test I was getting BSODs, programs crashing, audio issues, printing issues, driver issues, endless boot-loops with updates failing to install and so on.
Anyway, that's all fluff. I've posted a message on the nVidia forums to see if I mught find a cause and solution there.
I don't know if it's "luck".
We don't run vanilla installs and have never had issues with Windows 10,7, XP, or 2000.
Some people have a boatload, others...none.
I've never had major problems with any OS either. There's always the occasional niggley little issues, but Windows 10 since I started with it on 1703 has been a nightmare ever since. Such is life..
If you are the same guy from Guru3d, than you may be unable to install your driver probably because of the goup policy you have set to prevent the driver installing.
Or with this message: Not compatible with this version of Windows
Either wrong OS selected , Also possible you REQUIRED the DCH driver or the STANDARD one.

Sorry, you are saying that if I block driver downloads from Microsoft via Windows Update group policy, I can't download and install drivers from nVidia? Hmm. That's strange. I've had that setting enabled for years across hundreds of PCs I have built and managed, and the creation of this folder started only almost two weeks ago and ONLY on one PC
The OS hasn't changed since I installed 1703 back July of 2017, other than the version (1703, 1709, 1809 always via clean install), it's always been the same Windows 10 X64. So what do you mean "Wrong OS selected"?
I only use the standard drivers. I get my drivers from Advanced Driver Search | NVIDIA
If I had installed the DCH drivers I would have lost the nVidia control panel and be getting an error every single time I start the computer.
I posted on Guru3D because of the inability to install any driver after using DDU. I posted here because of the folder creation. The original post here makes no mention of DDU, as that was a suggestion proposed by someone here. It was only then I headed over to Guru3D.
In what appears to be a poorly worded and failed attempt at clarity I gave background on the whole scenario. I should stop doing that as is seems to muddy the waters and often results in no solutions.
On these forums, the topic is the creation of the folder, and tbh, that really is the only thing I am concerned about. DDU is a fantastic tool from the looks of it, but I've used it once only since I first used Windows back in the early 90's.
If I changed something then I don't know what I changed. It certainly wasn't deliberate. My PC has been stable since I reinstalled it in Feb 2020. The ONLY thing I've changed is the monthly Microsoft Windows 10 CU's and NOTHING else.
It's starting to look like a complete reinstall of Windows is going to be the only solution. At least then I can check at various points if and when the folder creation starts happening and get a feel for what's causing it.

I think I have a workaround. Why logging started I don't know, but I found a reg file on https://custhelp.nvdia.com that disables logging and it has stopped the folder creation.
