I use my 1080p TV as a monitor and I noticed that the picture wasn't scaled to the screen correctly and that in Windows Display settings the resolution was 1400 x 900. Now everything on the screen is stretched out. Here are Nvidea settings that I adjusted to:
The resolution in Display settings is also 1400 x 1050

Increasing your refresh rate to 75 Hz may work on some monitors with 60Hz cap at the expense of lowering down maximum resolution .
So if you want the FHD resolution (1920) your TV/Monitor to work you may have to lower your GPU refresh rate to match it .
Are you extending or duplicating the displays? If duplicating you can't set them any higher than the resolution of the lowest display.

says to use the PC input on the TV, which looks to be a VGA connection.
