Why do some 24" 1080p monitors have blank spots on the sides? video

I used someone's monitor to test my computer and it was 1080p 24" and the resolution would not spread over the entire screen. I can use other monitors with the same HDMI output and it works fine. I can use this monitor with VGA output and it works fine. That is a video of the problem I was having. I have this same concern with certain TVs, too.

That can happen on monitors if the Resolution is not optimum and/or the Menu on the monitor itself is not properly set. The monitor usually needs to use the Automatic choice, mine does. I have 4 computers connected to the same monitor through a KVM switch, 3 use 1440 x 900 and the main/newest is 1920 x1080, all have different OSes, one is Win10 Pro, next is Linux Mint, then Win10 Pro Insider Preview and last is Win10 Home. And any adjustment can be affected by the video/graphics adapter, either onboard or an Add-in card. My monitor is a 21". My newest computer has the Add-in card but the other 3 have built-in adapters.

Ohh those horrible things - got rid of those just by removing the HP´s display drivers. win 10 drivers are enough for every HP laptop basically. (got 5 of them myself).

Problems with the HDMI is the audio drivers basically messing up with the video signal, dunno how they did that.

Lemme know if you even have the HP drivers installed.

So you're saying it has to do with a setting on the device and not my computer?

Then the audio channel messes with the picture? This was my workspace partner's monitor, the video was recorded previously, I don't have this monitor anymore. But sometimes it happens with TVs too.
