is it normal for vesa arms to not tilt down?

so i am the first time owner of a desk clamp vesa mount (This one) And i notice one thing about it, i can tilt upwatds just great but i cannot tilt it down past 90 degrees or head on. it also cant bend low so its only good for certain scenarios

as seen here as much as it can go up i wish it can go down that far, and the bolt/hinge from what i see is not bi-directional without some modifications. are vesa arms supposed to be like that?

Mine can tilt down (although they required some screw loosening at first). Check the screws aren't overly tight. Double check the manual too.

I think swarfega has probably hit the nail on the head - tightness.

I also use a desktop clamp vega mount for a monitor and I was far too enthusiastic when I put it together.
    - I had to loosen the screws a bit to swing it from side to side easily.
    - Tilting it up & down is possible but it's a real battle since I left those screws done up very tightly & would have to loosen them if I wanted to do it [I don't need to tilt it normally so I am more concerned with preventing unwanted tilt than anything else].

Your vega arm looks like it should cope with a small amount of downward tilt [say, up to 15°] but you will probably need to swing the arm itself downwards if you want to tilt it a lot.

    Best of luck,
    Denis

i have followed the manual to a T and i tried to loosen that bolt, that it did but it just sagged. then i disassembled the entire notch system but the spring has a hitch locker to ensure it dosent go any further.

EDIT: after disassembling the top hinge area I reversed the spring and bolt direction and they gave me the results I wanted I'm still tight as a drum.
