    Monitor resolution problem

    Hi

After installing a new computer/windows 10 pro, I have an issue with my monitor and its resolution.

With my previous computer I had 1920x1080, with the new computer, the default was on 1024x768 with only 3 lower resolution options.

After playing with the adapter (radeon rx vega m) settings, I manage to see 1920x1080 but then the screen position is in such way that the taskbar starts exactly where the monitor ends (bottom) and the window's caption (when maximized) starts where the monitor ends (top).

I have an auto adjust in the monitor but this configuration satisfies it.

The monitor (19' or 21') is not new but not that old (I think :)). Could this be problem of old vs new equipment or is it something else?

    Thanks

"radeon rx vega m" implies a laptop.

You may get better advice if you add the system specs to "my computer". (You can list 2 systems.)

Maybe Windows is not identifying the monitor correctly. Look for the monitor "driver", which contains the .INF file, and install it.

I don't know if there is and where. it's NU monitor a friend gave me. Any idea where to find the driver? Thanks

BTW, device manager says generic PNP monitor but 2 friends of mine also have the same monitor defintion and there the higher resolution works.

A NUC, huh. The hardware is more like a laptop than most desktops.

There should be a label on the back of the monitor that gives its model number.

Do you have these drivers, or newer, installed? Download Radeon™ RX Vega M Graphics

What interface are you using between the box and the monitor? (DP, HDMI, DVI?) It may not matter, but too much information is better than too little.

OK, apparently it's much older than I thought :)
It's NU monitor w2221a from 2007... so my question remains: maybe it is old vs new problem?
I have an adapter from vga (monitor) to HDMI (box).
radeon drivers are all up to date

Not likely. Have you installed the latest catalyst drivers? It's not clear if you've installed the oem drivers, or if you mean the Windows Update supplied drivers are up to date.

I couldn't find any place/site with the monitor drivers.
The drivers I did update were of the radeon adapter.

    Nu Technology Lcd Monitor W2221A
    Maximum Display Resolution: 1680x1050

The monitor is not even capable of doing 1920x1080. Also if you are using a VGA to HDMI adapter then you are limited by its capabilities also. With your monitor using the adapter maybe 1024x768 is the best that is possible.

Can you explain this please "if you are using a VGA to HDMI adapter then you are limited by its capabilities also"?
How can I know what are the adapter capabilities?

I'm almost sure I had 1920x1080 with my previous computer (no adapter) but I'll go with 1680x1050... if I only knew how to tell my computer/adapter to give me this option.

And right after posting the previous message, I got the 1680x1050 option and it works (almost) ok. Apparently there was an upgrade to monitor pnp driver as well.

It's much better than the previous one, that's for sure but I hope the blurry will go through your monitor (see attached)

blurry option in Windows settings is turned on. I wonder if it's just a missing settings I need to set.
    Thanks!
