Ok. Thanks guys. I’ll try what you suggested, Faith, and take it from there.

I’ll see if all of the case fans are running too, RoadBlaster.

Ok, so here's where I'm at:

I cleaned the CPU cooler and re-applied the thermal paste. I then ran system file checker and then ran the DISM restore health commands. My system was stable and could even play Gears 4 without the game freezing. The GPU did start to run high though, whereas my CPU was typically around 65°C.

Someone told me that this might not neccessarily be a problem as my GFX card could have active cooling, which would only start at around 60°C anyway.

I'm starting to get crashes again and this warning in HWiNFO64:

If you can't read that, it says:

    [05] Reallocated Sector Count: 100/36, Worst: 100 (Data = 6,0)

Please note: I've only started using HWiNFO64 when I was advised to do so to monitor my system temperatures, so this error could have shown earlier. I didn't look through the full program either and have only recently noticed this warning for my HDD.

I've run CHKDSK on both hard drive partitions multiple times and no errors have been found. The error warning on HWiNFO64 still shows though.

Could someone help me to resolve this, please? Is this why Gears 4 is now crashing?

P.S. Would I have to start a new thread for advice on how to upgrade my PC?

    Hi Darrel,

Did you check your fans in the case are working, were are they positioned & how many ?

Still sounds like cooling issues ? any chance you can show a picture of you case internals please ?
