    2 monitor setup

I have a vga and hdmi monitor. Windows 10 settings shows that I have 2 monitors set up, but when I try to run some programs they show up on the second monitor and not the first. Then the next problem is that the mouse cursor is still on the 1st monitor. When I try to arrange the monitors in display settings and then click identify i cannot seem to get my main display to show as 1. How do i correct this?

You need to extend the displays....use the window key and P key, then select extend.

I tried that but it still did not solve my problem. let's say I start Chrome form my 1st monitor, Chrome will show up on my second monitor but my mouse will still be on my 1st monitor.

Could this be that you have the wrong monitor checked as 'Main Monitor'? In 'Display Settings' (right click desktop, select 'Display Settings') select the monitor you expect apps to appear on and scroll down to 'Multiple Displays'. Look for the checkbox labelled Make this my main display' and check the box. Hit apply.

I'm not sure, but this setting might help.

I think the problem is that I have one monitor plugged into the computer and one into the graphics card. I read somewhere on the internet that this is not optimal. My vga monitor has a dvi-1 slot so I ordered a dvi-1 cable so I can plug it into the graphics card as well. let's hope that works. Also I noticed that the vga monitor boots up before the hdmi one does so lets hope this fixes that as well.
