Dell Monitor won't stay tilted back

Try3, that was a wealth of info there, thanks. If needed I think I will go with a Dell 24 Monitor: P2419H because I like that they slide up and down along with tilt. Perhaps not the best monitor I don't know. Will need to look at the specs closer later.

I don't really know if mine is overheating, so may be jumping the gun a little. The monitor above also has USB 3.0 Ports on the side. I have an older model like this so I know I like them. DP, HDMI, VGA all should be good enough for me.

    FM,

Of course, your requirements will be different from mine so our decisions will differ.
    - I've been hooked on touchscreens for twenty years [ever since my 7inch Psion 7] so I would not consider this one.
    - It mentions VESA mounts so you could use them in the future, if you felt like it, to fit it to the wall or a swinging arm.
    - Dell tells lies about some subjects such as "Security lock slot (cable lock sold separately)". It might be a standard, cheap yet effective Kensington lock slot or it might be a non-standard & expensive one from Dell's new best friend Noble with their alternative [they are not interchangeable]. I have had to buy a Noble lock cable for my 7779 and Noble gave me a special discount so it "only" cost $50 [Kensington vary but many are $15-$25]. If this is important to you for a monitor then you'd need to find a user review that confirms which type of lock slot it has because you won't be able to believe Dell staff.

The last two monitors I have are Dell. One is a 24" and other a 27". Both were made in Taiwan.

Seems to be the same tilt mechanism as my Dell monitor in which case should be very stiff as it should be.

It appears yours is faulty, or needs adjustment. You can see the mechanism from underneath, a couple of very chunky cylindrical springs seem to be involved.

Obviously to get a good look you would have to demount the Monitor from the stand. The Stand release button is so you can lift the monitor off the stand as in the Dell Monitor Setup and User Guide PDFs.

No idea why you think a silicone spray would be useful, probably make it worse.

Speccy temperature measurement would be for the Graphics Card not the monitor. Very unlikely the monitor sends such info via the EDID.

"I see now 40 °C is the limit!"
That is clearly the room temperature (environmental) maximum when switched on, not the internals of the Monitor.

I don't think they are all the same? Thanks for the info though.

I've taken a Very close look at it all and don't see a way of taking it apart, and if I did I don't think I would be lucky enough to find an adjustment, do you?

Speccy may be wrong yes, but it clearly is showing as the Monitor. Operating Temps 0 °C to 40 °C it's showing 70 and has never shown any problems so I assume that is wrong and maybe you are right and it is gpu? Doesn't feel overly hot either.
    Non-operating Storage: -20 °C to 60 °C (-4 °F to 140 °F)

It seems as no one has had this issue and has not delved into fixing it so I will drop it and not worry about it for now. I already spent a lot of time pulling it apart and looking it over carefully. I looked on youtube also.

    /humor on

    Mod Kit:
4 to 6 clean wood splints, popsicle sticks or equiv.
1 Roll Duct Tape, any color, 2" width
Using splints, roll tape around the troubled joint, as needed to secure it from drooping.
Tweak as needed, for desired angle of tilt.
