is it possible to convert HDMI to DisplayPort? (in that order)

it seems liek a silly question but i cant seem to find a simple HDMI -> DP adapter for cheap but i can find a ton of DP to hdmi adapters. my issue is that i have a snowblind case that takes up my ONLY hdmi port on my video card, but i have another monitor that needs the hdmi as well (in short i have 3 monitors and 2 of them are hdmi but i only have one hdmi slot.

cant i just use those dp to hdmi adapters backwards?

Nope. It would require an active adapter. HDMI to DisplayPort and DisplayPort to HDMI Conversion Explained

Active adapters exist. Robot Check I believe that the USB cable only supplies power. (If you didn't want to use a USB port on the computer, you could plug it into a cell phone charger, or other USB power source.)

They cost more than a passive DP to HDMI adapter.

Aw man . Why does it need a passive adapter? is it because of the bandwidth? If so I'm only trying to do a simple 800 by 600 resolution it shouldn't eat so much bandwidth to need an active adapter or no?

Active usuall/y means a signal is being interpreted or manipulated to deliver one type of signal to a different type to make it usable. It could something like amplifying a network signal from a router to a device that is multiple times longer than the standard cable length of CAT5 limit of 100Meters to several hundred. If an adapter from A to Z is needed and available it usually means a sufficient number of users have needed it to make producing it a viable project, asking about such a device puts the asker in the group. There is considerable validity in the question of why is an adapter needed and the answer is that there is a need to accomplish something and usually there are means available which then brings up the question of How much followed by the justification of Do I need it that bad.

    Wait a minute. I re-read "xdarkmario's" first post.

At least one of us is seriously confused.

If the PC is the one in your "My Computer" listing, you have a Powercolor RX 5700XT Red Devil graphics card. It has one HDMI port, plus THREE DisplayPort outputs. If you wish to connect monitors that use HDMI, all you need are cheap passive DP to HDMI adapters.

A DP to HDMI adapter plugs into a DP socket, and provides a female HDMI socket that your male monitor cable plugs into.

If you read the link in my first post (#3), you'll see that some DP outputs can sense that an HDMI device is connected, and adjust their output to be compatible. HDMI parts apparently aren't as smart.

What is it that you really need?

    Whiskey tango foxtrot?

That's what I posted. DP to HDMI adapts a DP output to drive a monitor with only an HDMI input. I don't know how I could have been clearer.

Passive adapters should be fine. Examples: dp to hdmi - Newegg.com The cheapest are around $5US. If you want to keep it short, maybe this one: Rocstor Y10A170-B1 Displayport To Hdmi Adapter M/F Gold Plated Connectors Black - Newegg.com

Just be sure to not get the mini-DP to HDMI. Your graphics card needs full-sized DP.
