    Graphical artifacting/distortion

    Hi all,

Since yesterday my computer has started having graphical issues. Here are some examples:

As you can see there's lines going through text. There's also some fuzzy dots blinking in areas on the screen. Chrome had some issues as well but those appear to have been fixed by disabling hardware acceleration. The only thing that has changed recently is a Windows update. I'm currently running Win10 1909 but the hardware is pretty old.

I've run the Windows memory diagnostic and a GPU diagnostic. Neither turned up any failures. I've run DISM/sfc and sfc doesn't find anything.

    Any ideas on a fix?

    Hi

Have you tried using an older driver that is compatible with 1909? This looks like a driver problem to me.

The GPU is pretty old and the latest drivers are only officially compatible with Win8. I can't imagine going back to an even older driver would improve the situation. Everything had been fine in Win10 up until a few days ago. The only thing I can think of is that there was a Windows update which caused this.

Is the computer in your System Specs the one having problem?

No, sorry it's a different machine. This is the GPU it has:

Here I found Windows 10 drivers for HD 5770:

Drivers are from 2015 and 2016 respectively. It's going to be a hit-or-miss into making sure everything is stable at this point.

A very old Graphics Card, 10 years old, it needs servicing.

Clean or replace the fan. Small fans like that don't last long.

Install some temperature monitoring App like CPUID HWMonitor, or similar, and check on temperatures.

Probably a lot easier to simply buy a new Graphics Card.
