Some help please on Dual monitors

    Newbie here,
so, working from home and I have 2 monitors setup, I have a large monitor with a HDMI setup on the left ( Facing the screens) on the right I have a smaller monitor and that has a VGA to the desktop, I want my home screen/ desktop on the large screen on the left., it says it is monitor Number one, plus the check mark is greyed out stating its monitor number 1, but my desktop and home screen keeps loading on the smaller screen on the right which says monitor number two, I have tried deleting both monitors, just putting the larger monitor on alone , then when I add the smaller monitor, once again the desktop home screen automatically goes over to that screen, no matter what I try the dam desktop/home screen keeps going to the right/smaller screen, I want my desktop/home screen on the left larger screen, when I switch back and forth from monitor to monitor trying to get it to work, the larger monitor on the left will not allow me to slide the screens, which I really don't want to anyway because its set up as monitor number one, if I put both screens on the desktop just moves right over to the small screen every single time, please help , Its DRIVING ME INSANE !!!!!!, I went on line and youtube and looked and read a whole bunch of stuff but nothing out there explains why it would do this, everything explains stuff THAT DONT WORK OR HELP !!!!
    Thank You

    Thanks , But NO GOOD

Thank You for the reply, I read it all and its pretty much all stuff I have tried already, not sure why it keeps going to the screen on the right every time its turned on or when I hit extended display, strange …..my larger monitor on the left will have the Home screen / Desk top on it, and It displays as monitor number 1, as some as I hit extended display to have the second monitor go on the desktop/ home screen goes right over to the smaller screen on the right, but the larger screen on the left still says its monitor number 1, but the home screen / desk top will not stay on monitor number 1.

well not sure. I know it usually will use vga before hdmi. as you found out as it probably showing on the monitor with vga window starting screen. can you hook the vga monitor with a didgital connector like dvi or hdmi? I know on mine at home the one with vga connection only shows the windows starting screen. I never checked to see if I moved screens around if I can put desktop on left screen. as my vga monitor is the bigger one is why I put it on the left.

Right click on desktop, select Display Settings.

Select your display on left, the larger one:

Now scroll all the way down the Display Settings pane, and under Multiple displays, select Extend these displays, and select Make this my main display:

Another thing you can try is to swap the cables over.
