Mirroring laptop screen to TV - works once only.

    Hi all,
I’m having problems connecting my laptop’s screen to the TV, On first setting up the connection by adding the TV via Bluetooth the screen shows but it refuses to connect again. No error other than can’t connect.
Running Win 10 Pro 1909, all drivers up to date, TV running latest software.

    Thanks,
I found connecting to the TV hit and miss. I just did it and it took at least 6 tries. I found it sometimes makes a difference whether the laptop starts the connections first or the TV. All I can do is show how I do it and hope that helps.

BTW, my Samsung TV is ten years old and doesn't have Bluetooth. That is OK because I connect to my Samsung [BD]J6300 Blue-Ray player instead.

On the Blue-Ray player I open the Screen Mirroring app that comes with it.

On the laptop I open the notification area on the right side of the screen and...
    • Turn on Bluetooth if it is not on
    • Select Project
    • On the bottom select Connect to a wireless display
    • I then select [BD]J6300 from the list
    • Within 30 seconds it will connect and display

I can connect a laptop to a TV without Bluetooth. I use the Windows function "Project", and the Sony TV function "Screen Mirror". It works well. The same works with Samsung phones.

Now that I rechecked you are right. I don't need Bluetooth at all. What threw me is that previously when I used Project it asked me to turn on Bluetooth to continue. After I disabled Bluetooth it proved that I was connecting using WiFi.

I now realize what it was using is Miracast technology with WiFi which is supported by Windows 10 and SmartTV devices since around 2013. That is why my TV doesn't support it because it was built before then.

Thanks @MisterEd, that’s how I’m doing it & no matter how often I try it fails.
    It’s a LG 32” 3D full HD TV.
