problem solving screen not coming on at start up

didnt know where to put this as im not sure of the problem

ive just upgraded a few pc parts and was hoping the problem might just go away, it didnt not suprisingly probably as i didnt upgrade the gpu or the monitor,

whenever i start the pc up after its been turned for a while the monitor dosent start up properly, somtimes just unpluggining it works, sometimes i have to unplug it several times, or restart the pc a couple of times

monitor is connected to the gpu using DVI ive tried changing that to hdmi but when i do the resolution is wrong 800x600 i think and cant change it as the display resolution is greyed out

    Hi.

So if I read this correctly everything was fine before you upgraded, correct?

    What parts did you upgrade?

As you were inside your box have you gone back in, disconnect power cables to vid card, remove and reseated card, reconnect cables. (Obviously with mains disconnected from wall).

Have you reseated cables both ends from monitor and PC?

Depending on changes you made on MB have you subsequently reload BIOS defaults and then applied your customizations?

Not following comment that you were using DVI and switch to HDMI. You disconnected DVI cable and installed HDMI cable set.

Does monitor wake properly on another system, if you have?

ive not been into bios yet or changed anything .

Yes while pc was of i disconected Dvi and started up with Hdmi cable instaed, screen starts up fine with hdmi but screen resolution is stuck on 640x480, i dont have another system to try on

Fixed resolution with HDMi connection is very strange outcome...

Found several thread out there about the same (or similar) GPU as yours.. This one at AMD has a lot of possible solutions

    Some quick steps...
    - disable fast startup in Windows
    - reseat RAM sticks
    - check PSU connection (all 8 pins should be there)

Okay. So you built a new PC and reused graphic card.

Lets try this, right click start, click command prompt (admin) or Powershell (admin) and enter command

    powercfg -h off

This shuts off hibernation which in turns disables Fast Startup

    Test

To reverse change the word off to on in command.

If you shut hibernation off fast startup is gone.

So then you powered off, powered on and screen remained black, correct?

I wonder if we are attacking the right device.

Any chance you have another monitor or another computer.

    Okay.

Think we are dealing with multiple issues here.

    Screen black DVI

    Bad resolution HDMI.

For HDMI ... don't take me wrong, is this a quality cable?

If you hold Crtl +Shift + Windows Key + B to restart graphics does resolution change?

When you first put all the bits together did you enter BIOS and load defaults?

I am starting to question that video card.

ive restarted the graphics card the resolution didnt change

ive looked at the rgistry to force add my resolution but following the instructiions the folder was missing from
    \HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\System\CurrentControlSet\Control

i havent been into the bios but ive checked the update and the only update refers to making ryzen 3000 compatible

are you thinking there a problem with the hardware~?
