I have been in the hospital for two months (really old also). My windows 10 PC is dedicated primarily to watching videos. It is already setup to watch videos using an HDMI cable (already attached), but I have forgotten how get the video to play from the computer to my big screen tv.
I know it has to be simple, but I just cannot remember how. I could use a step by step how to.

YEAH, got figured out.
I had to use tv remote to select the place where the hdmi cord plugs into the tv.
Now on the pc, select the movie and open it with "Media Player"
Grab the movie at the top left and drag to right until the whole movie is showing on the tv.
Now press F11 button to make it full screen on the TV.

I also have my laptop permanently connected at my TV with HDMI. To skip drag-n-dropping the video windows from the laptop internal screen to the TV, I pressed the Win+P key combination and set to "Second screen only". When I have the laptop connected to the TV, its screen is turned off and I use the TV as screen to do my video watching. When I disconnect the HDMI cable, then the laptop activates the internal screen and works as expected. I use a wireless keyboard/mouse set so I can control the laptop from my couch. If you want to also use the internal laptop screen, set "Extend this display".
spapakons As long as it works for you that is awesome. It may take me a few more steps but at least I know it works and I am NOT going to mess with what works.
