so you don't have a dvd or bluray player with hdmi on it. well the only other way I know is to use the other output on laptop to test with which you will need an adapter for.

I don't have another device to try it on. I also think it's a connection problem. Any other way to test it?
I told you how right here.....

My suggestion is to try a different monitor or move said monitor to another PC. If the monitor works on a different PC it's most likely the GPU.
Test would also reveal if there's a PC or connection issue

OK, I'll ask a neighbor to let me hook up to his computer. This might take a while as he's on vacation. Please stay tuned and I'll post the result.

PS: There must be a driver for the GPU. Where would I find that in Device Manager? Also, is there any other way to test the GPU?

    What about Dell Diagnostics? Thanks..........

Quite likely to be a problem with the HDMI plugs and sockets possibly the HDMI cable.
Check sockets on laptop and monitor for damage. Similarly with the HDMI cable and plugs.

These are very small these days and you will need a suitable magnifying glass and light.

Nothing wrong with the driver and GPU as the internal screen works.

One of my methods is to very gently wiggle the suspect areas.

    "What about Dell Diagnostics?"
Probably a waste of time as it won't cover the likely areas.
