Monitor not working on my acer aspire 5,but working on other hp laptop

So i have a samsung syncMaster913n monitor which has a vga port so i bought an hdmi to vga converter so i can connect it with hdmi, it works normally on my hp laptop and orange pi but it doesn't work on my laptop acer aspire 5 a515 52g, is there some kind of a driver problem or do i need to install some drivers, i looked for sync master 913n drivers but all i found were just some malware programs (know that because i checked with virus total), also nothing show up in the device manager when i plug the hdmi in my laptop, any ideas on how to make it work?, any help is greatly appreciated

Notebooks typically have an Fn plus another Fx key used to toggle between the LCD Flat Panel, an added monitor or both at the same time, great for projectors, much larger screens, etc. That process works for VGA, DVI or HDMI ports, have used the HDMI on a couple of Notebooks with bad screens for recovery, one dropped and the other by lightning hitting the house.

There are two issues that could be relevant

You do need drivers to run a Monitor, but these are normally supplied with the laptop, either pre installed, or on a CD (or more likely these days on the hard drive as installers). If you cannot find them installed, (on the Device Manager), or in some part of the Hard Drive, they should be downloadable from your local acer office, they will usually need a serial number / Unit ID to be sure the correct drivers are supplied. As the graphics card is an nVidia unit you may also use their online download system that scans your system and identifies the actual Chip in use.

The other issue could be the adaptor you are using, unfortunately not all adaptors are made to the same standards, if possible try connecting to a VGA system to prove that the port is working, also I'm not certain if the adaptor will actually work both ways VGA - HDMI and HDMI - VGA are different setups although the connectors would look the same

I would have a look at Display settings. What resolution is Windows trying to use at the second monitor? Try lowering it to 1280x720 or similar. 19" monitors usually do not support higher than 1366X768 or rarely 1440x900. If there is some incompatibility with the adapter, Windows might try to give 1920x1080 and that doesn't work. To change the display independently from laptop manufacturer press Win+P.
