Corrupted Text Display - Graphics Card Issue?

Win Ver 1903 (Build 18362.592) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti

I have a mature and stable system but over the last few days I've noticed an occasional line or two of text displaying as garbage (see screenshot). The text rights itself if I highlight or select the whole paragraph although sometimes it happens again to the same line a few moments later. I've not logged the applications where this happens yet, but definitely in Chrome (Version 81.0.4040.5 (Official Build) dev (64-bit)) and I think in Acrobat DC.

    How it appeared:

    After selecting text:

Does this seem like a graphics card problem?

    Not a Graphics Card problem.
It is some sort of Fonts, character set problem.
As you are using a development version of Chrome then contact Google, report an issue, or whatever.

If you are getting that in other applications then it is probably a Windows problem, your install should be checked.

This symptom is experienced when you are running an outdated graphics driver over a recent build of windows .

You may want to check if you are on the most recent driver released .

However if i understand correctly Nvidia 7 series didn't have a graphics driver update in a while and may clash with the new UWP standard of drivers so if you are on the latest driver continue reading .

I believe with Chrome an easy work around would be to head to settings then search for "Use hardware acceleration when available" then disable it , then relaunch , that should sort it .

If that start happening in other apps without resolution you may have to revert to the Windows WDDM version of the driver found in their catalog .

If you hate it for any reason installing windows version 1803 (clean installation sadly) may keep everything normal for you (Since its pre the UWP era of drivers , maybe 1809 too but i am not sure , you'd be lucky if it was as 1809 is more stable than 1803 and 1903+)

    Good luck .

This isn't an absolute guarantee that the 750ti is still supported, but...

    Drivers | GeForce

(There have been issues in the past with the supported hardware list being incorrect, but I doubt that in this case.)

I've turned off the hardware acceleration in Google and will wait to see how it goes.

Also give the driver bobkin got you its url a go , it's good they allow it to install on your hardware in that case , this driver is certainly uwp and if it manages to install might move you forward to new standard of windows for a while to come .
