Brightness automatically changes going from dark to light UI...

...and it's the worst for photo editing! It typically happens when I go from Photoshop to chrome, or anywhere that has a dark UI to chrome. I think it's on the OS side, when the screen is automatically brightening I can go into the Nvidia control panel and select "Use NVIDIA settings" and it will kick the brightness down. Once I go back to a dark UI, here comes the brightness again...

I've tried things like adjusting windows power settings, going into bios and seeing if there was an on-board graphics setting I need to turn off, searching Adobe, Windows, and Nvidia forums, buying a new monitor, but nothing is working.

Has anyone experienced this before, or have any tips or tricks? Thank you!

Are you sure that the screen's brightness is actually changed?

Or that your eyes are simply adjusting --- like waking up at 3am to go to the bathroom and turn on the 40 watt hallway light but your eyes think that it's a 100 watt light.

Smart question, but no it's not a gradual brightening. More like a choppy 10 shades over 5 seconds...
I'm going to try to do a video screen-grab.

Since you are a photoshop user, don't you have one of those hockey puck screen calibration devices and check if your screen actually have changed brightness.

I do not. But yes, it's really changing.

I've tried that / Can't get to it, there is no option? See 1 & 1a

So more testing... The screen-capture didn't capture the brightness change, but as you can see from my cell phone video it's happening...

What does that mean if it can't pick it up internally? Weird...

I also found this and noticed that there's a display checkbox missing from my AMD Catalyst control center.
