    Display Brightness Automatically Changing.

    So,

Posting here because I'm unsure as to whether this is Intel Software, Hardware, Mobo, Display, OS or Driver related.

I've trawled Google and tried multiple fixes but I still have this strange issue. For no rhyme or reason my display has been automatically adjusting itself aggressively when I switch between explorer windows, the desktop, chrome tabs or even scrolling down web pages (appears to dim more when the screen has lots of white and text, then brightness picks up with more graphics or images on the page). My PC is connected by HDMI 1.4 to my LG OLED, I have even rest the TV to Factory Default and it's still doing it. I've also tried Edge just to rule out a Chrome specific problem and it still does it.

I have had this issue before on an Dell laptop and that's when I first discovered 'Adaptive Brightness' so that was my first instinct. However I'm on a desktop PC not a laptop so I have no battery or power options for that available.

I then started hunting through the Intel Graphics software for any power saving options, nothing.

Under services.msc I located 'Display Enhancement Service' and 'Sensor Monitoring Service' and disabled both of those.

I'm stumped - if I have no Adaptive Brightness option, no adaptive contrast option, no GFX power saving options, no 'Adjust video based on lighting setting' - how do I fix this?
I've also tried to reinstate the Adaptive Brightness option so I can disable it as directed in this link but still no joy: Enable or Disable Adaptive Brightness in Windows 10

I have the latest OS updates, Chrome and GFX drivers installed. The OLED TV power saving is all switched off and it doesn't do this when watching discs or cable.

Probably doesn't help much as the phone camera doesn't detect it very well but here is a short video of the issue: YouTube

Any help would be much appreciated.

Super weird thanks TC, I made it unlisted that anyone with link can watch it but swapped it over to Public so should be right to view it. Be aware though as I alluded to the camera doesn't do it justice, it just looks like a quick flash on the camera but to the human eye its a huge change in brightness.

Can you bounce this to the appropriate thread. It's not a Graphics Card issue as far as I can tell, I uninstalled the Intel GFX Suite and drivers, dropped it back to the Basic Microsoft Display Adapter driver and it's still doing it.

It, as far as I can see is purely some sort of Windows function causing it.

    Well for starters,
If the specs are right in your description. The Gigabyte H87 is a 4th Gen Intel system. That means your G3220 will only have a HD4600 HD5000 internal graphics chip, and not a HD 630, so you may have installed the wrong drivers.

Goto main Intel Arc website and get the right drivers

    Good luck

Many TVs have "dynamic contrast" or similar systems that mess around with screen brightness. These will almost certainly be turned on if you have done a factory reset on the TV. Have you checked that the TV has all of that kind of nonsense turned off? (in the TV settings not on the PC)

The latest driver according to Intel seems to be 4279, Gigabyte 4364, however Windows updates may install another version.
I would just install the version from Gigabyte and let Windows updates do it's thing. It worked for mine.

Used to have the problem on earlier versions of Windows 10 prior to 1903, forget which ones exactly, but do not see the problem anymore.

Your video shows it clearly, but that is because I used to have that irritating problem.

Settings > Display > Additional power settings > Change advanced power settings > Display > Adaptive brightness >.
This setting has disappeared on mine in latest versions of Windows 10, so good job it has been fixed. The only option now is in the Intel Graphics Control Panel and only affects Battery, it used to affect it Plugged in.

My CPU is 4th gen HD 4600, driver is 5070. Installed by Windows during version update 1903.
Intel's latest for the CPU concerned is 5063. That and the 2 previous versions were not listed by Intel.

All updates were done with the Windows 10 upgrade and subsequent version updates.
I have never used any other updater.

It is not a TV/monitor problem, clearly a Windows/display driver thing.

Brightness, etc changing, can be just the display. You need to adjust the display itself to those settings that give you the best display when displaying different media.

Just going back and forth stating that it must be only the computer, display adapter or drivers, means zip, zero. If you want to test it out, plug the computer into another display and run the dame media on that other display Image display changes in brightness, contrast, etc, it could be the computer if the display does not change with another device connected to it. Display changes with different devices connected, must be the display.
