Since you mention light gaming I would probably go for the game ready driver, there is not a lot of difference between the types, mainly the studio driver has been tested and optimised for use with content creation apps such as Premiere, Cinema 4D etc. Each driver package will state which card they will work with.

Version 391.35 being the latest available, but after some reading I am seeing that version 390.65 could be the sweet spot

In a nutshell NVidia has created two tracks for their drivers - one track is for content creators (photographers and video editors) and the other is for gamers. That is one is optimized for content creators, while the other is optimized for games.

See this article - NVIDIA Studio Driver vs. GeForce Game Ready Driver Performance

Unless you are a content creator, you'd be better off with the gamer drivers are they are best suited for your card.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you everyone. I went with the gamer driver. Now I just gotta figure out how to optimize my gpu for GTA San Andreas.

I read somewhere that there is little practical performance difference between the game ready and studio drivers but the studio drivers may be an earlier release for improved stability.
