I'm not a gamer either, so I stayed at 451.67. That's the version WHQL will install. Any version 452.xx or higher causes the GPU fans to jump to 37-40% and the temp to rise to 65°C +/-. GTX 1080Ti. If I install one, all seems ok fan/temp wise at 20-23% fan and 28-30°C, but after a restart is when it goes nuts. Can't remember what app I was using to see the voltages and OC settings, but they were pegged, high as they would go. Similar to CPU Power Plan of High Performance versus Balanced. The GPU never seemed to idle down.

There is a free app that can control your fan speed ....but I also agree with you running the older versions. I do the same thing myself TC ....These newer releases use more space, and memory, and seem buggy to me anyhow. The older versions run much better.
