I definitely know more now than I did when I first started reading this thread. And, I always wait for NVIDIA to inform me an update is available, and I don't do display driver betas.

I'd say I'm the "cowardly lion" about this.

I recommend the geforce forums, reddit and obviously here for more information before updating. There's always activity when something is awry.

But unfortunately these are launch drivers. Some users doesn't have the option to go back to a previous branch.

Faith, if you will, explain a bit further for those that may not know what is meant by a "launch" driver, the Games, etc. Thanks.

@Faith,
There is always a system image backup (recent or just before applying the driver Update) unless one falls on "Inaccessible_Boot-Device" critical BSOD error which takes a different skill set to fix.

Mine did an update yesterday when I was going back to the DEV build. Afterwords I used the New DDU and re installed 456.38 and all seemed to be OK. My temp while online is 29° C.

But.................... something is not what it appears to be, or is more. I have a top air discharge on the top of my tower in addition to the rear and sides, so I can also feel the heat. 3 seperate apps saying the same thing..... Windows native in Performance, GPU-Z, and the native Alienware power app. They are all reading the sensors the same way. How can a GPU be running at 61°C with virtually nothing running on the GPU? My normal GPU temp is 28-32°C

Mine is at 34° C and only the 3D settings (little red square at the top of screenshot) is having a graph. I don't know if that can be some sort of a pointer.

It means that if you have an RTX 3080 that just launched to support it, you're stucked on branch R455. So if a problem is exclusive to a specific branch - R455 - you can't go back to e.g R450 because that GPU is not supported. If that make sense?

Of course this would imply that there's an issue across all devices, including Ampere. But I'm just pointing out that there's no fallback if you have only one or two driver from one branch to work with. But I guess this comes with the territory when buying something new.

I am sure that there is a Developmental Driver that would support it. From the reviews That I have read The NVIDIA RTX 3080 is only faster on some games and not on all games. NVIDIA is also Claiming that the RTX 3070 is faster that the RTX 2080 T1. I would not rush to buy one of these cards. A driver is one thing a GPU is another.

There is actually, but there's usually regressions on them so the known issues may vary greatly, but like I mean for the general public. And if there's issues that applies to all then you can't exactly go back to get it fixed momentarily. And you are right, there's no rush to buy any of these cards, but they sold out like crazy anyway.

It's hard to find any that's in stock.
