Not surprising. I have read in other posts that Windows 10 have compatibility issues with display port. You can try HDMI or DVI instead which has no issues.

Spent some time trying to solve this. Did a lot of changing video drivers but it all solved after unplugging and rebooting.
First time it happend to me.
radeon 7830 and dell ultra sharp, vai display port.
So for me, the problem is back. It is not resolved. Unplugging the screen helps. Rebooting the system does not help.

I'd love to get feedback from a Dell engineer, since I am using an all-Dell system. Well the on-board graphics is Intel.

But the last I read is that this is a problem with Windows 10 and display port?

Yes, it seems that Windows 10 and Display port are not 100% compatible yet (depends on drivers). Try HDMI or DVI instead. What's the benefit of using DP anyway?

*sigh* I hope this will get resolved.

I chose DP, because my computer does not offer HDMI or DVI. I can select only between VGA and DP.

Dell U2312HM Displayport Not Recognizing Resolution

Same issue for me. I have my Dell U2312HM connected to displayport and it has reverted back to 640x480 resolution and will not allow me to change it. It is connected to an AMD Radeon R7 200 series card, and I am using displayport in addition to the DVI port because I require a 2 monitor setup. The DVI port has retained its resolution. When the problem initially happened, the monitor U2312HM connected to the displayport reverted to a "Generic non-PNP monitor" in the display settings. I manually loaded the correct driver (Dell U2312HM Digital - Displayport) and the available resolution was still not available.

I can confirm that this monitor works fine on other displayport setups as I have used it at my office for six months without any issue connected in a similar way but with a different video card.

Others in this thread said the solution is to disconnect and reconnect the DP cable. Have you tried that? Also do all the recent Windows updates, they may have fixed it. Make sure you have latest official AMD driver installed, don't rely on Microsoft driver from Windows Update.

    Using multiple displays could help

I would actually expect the problem to come back. Unplugging worked as a temporary (one-time) solution for me as well.

But effectively, what now seems to work is using 2 monitors - one connected with a VGA cable and used as primary display. I wanted to use 2 displays anyways, but it is somewhat curious that now the 640x480 resolution seems to be gone.

    Best,

    Win 10 not the problem

I have this problem ocasionally since Win 8.1, so not to blame Win 10.
Some times it justs starts Windows in low resolution and it lets me change back to full HD. Other times it totally goes to VGA and no support for other resolutions and the only solution is the unplug-plug back the DP connector.

AMD Drivers totally uptodate as Win 10.
Has anyone had any luck solving this issue? Someone said to update the Intel video drivers...
    Thx

Yes, if you have dual graphics (Intel and NVidia) then Intel is used for display while the other is for 3D acceleration only. So you should update the Intel graphics (better both) to fix the issue.
