Artifacting/incorrect colors on external display (TV) with Intel Card
Hey all,
I have a laptop I just fixed up for somebody - Acer Aspire 5742 laptop with 4GB RAM, Intel Core i3 processor and Intel HD Graphics.
It was working perfectly on my home workbench and I gave the laptop to them today. They took it home and it is fine otherwise, BUT when they hooked it up to their TV via HDMI to stream some video online, the external display is experiencing wrong colors and red speckled artifacting. The laptop display looks FINE, it is ONLY on the external display (a Hisense TV).
They have already tried a different HDMI cable, so it's not that. The laptop is absolutely up to date, so the latest version of Windows with no Windows Updates left to install listed in the 'Windows Update' menu. I used the Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant to get it to the most recent version of Win10. I went to Intel's website and used their Auto-search program to check if the laptop had the latest video drivers and it does, so I'm at a bit of a loss...
I cannot provide the Windows version number as I don't have the laptop and they live a 40 minute drive from me. Windows is completely up to date on it though (I even checked for any and all updates for everything before I gave it to them earlier today), so it would be the latest Win10 version number.
What would be causing this issue on ONLY the external display (when this happens, the laptop's screen still looks 100% normal)? Thanks for any help or thoughts! See the two attached pictures for examples of what their TV external display is looking like...
