This happens rarely but, when it does I don't get the normal (no signal error) the graphics card is not over heating and if I turn power off to pc then turn back on it's fine for months? Thanks for any ideas!
Change out the cable, check the monitor on another computer, Blu-Ray player, etc.

I unplugged the power cord for about 15 seconds then plugged back in just for the heck of it. It only happens 3-6 months apart maybe just some kind of glitch or something. Doesn't bother me that much but, it went blank/grey in the middle on one of the better half's facebook games and that was not good!
The next time you have display problems press these 4 keys simultaneously and report what you see and hear into the thread:
Windows logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B
(you can practice anytime so that you are prepared for a problem event)
