The screen of my neighbors W10 computer split in two ( after 5 minutes) as if someone cut the page up the center and swapped right and left. I made sure SNAP was not on, I reloaded the video drivers but the problem still happened. I took her CPU to my house and when I hooked it up to my monitor the problem would not happen. I am beginning to suspect the monitor itself. Is that possible?
Here's what happened. I ran her computer at my house and couldn't get the screen to split. Then at her house w/ her monitor it split after 5 minutes. I then plugged my monitor in and the screen was still split at her house. I took her monitor and cpu to my house where I couldn't get the screen to split with either monitor. I am perplexed.

Check the outlet or surge strip she is using, it's possible to have a wrong polarity in the wiring which won't affect lighting but electronics can be picky in having everything right.
The same thing just happened to me, the display is split in half with one side darker than the other and it has happened a couple of times now. A re-boot solved the problem for me. I am not sure if this problem is caused by Windows 10 Pro or by the latest optional (which probably means AMD beta testing) video driver from AMD for my video card, a Radeon 5700 XT. I suspect the video driver but every so often I extend the display to a second monitor, so it might be Windows causing this problem.
I just looked in the AMD graphics forum and I am not the only one having this problem. Looks like I need to wait for a new AMD driver or go back to a previous driver.
