If you mean disconnecting the monitor, I am not sure that is possible. I use a triple monitor setup and when I disconnect one of them, it does the same thing but depending on which one I unplug, the result is different.

If you are just pressing the power button on one of yours, please post back and say that is what you mean.

    2 screens

Thanks for the reply but I guess I am not quite sure why I cannot get my message right.
I have 2 monitors and I want to transferr data from one to the other, the #1 monitor id in front and the 2nd one is on my left and for some reason they are not working correctly when I start my desktop up I have a blank screen in front of me and when I turn on my 2nd screen both come on with everything in its correct designation, and if I close my #2 monitor everything that was on my screen moves over to the #1 monitor.
question is should I disconect #2 and start over again.
    Thanks,
    Mike

If you turn off a 2nd monitor.... folders, files, shorcuts, etc will all move to the 1st monitor. I don't think there is any way to stop that. Windows sees two screens and all is where you want it, but when disconnecting the 2nd, there is no where for Windows to put the data, other than on monitor #1.

    2 screens

    Thanks again for the reply,
Once again this action of closing #2 monitor which has 24 folders of pictures on it never transferred to #1 monitor then for some unknown reason it just hapened and now #1 monitor is loaded with 24 folders plus all my other desktop items, I can hardly see the screen for folders. I think I will close #2 monitor and just have the one screen then start over and add a 2nd monitor, maybe that will work

Define closed? Are you turning it off, or switching from extend to PC only etc?
