UFO framerate test not hitting 60 on ext monitors (when internal off)

My laptop has a 144Hz panel. When I run UFO Test: Framerates on my laptop screen, I get 144 fps.

When I plug it into my 1080p 60Hz monitor or my 4K TV, I am only getting ~45fps instead of 60.

For the monitor, I have tried plugging directly into my computers HDMI port as well as the HDMI port on my 5-in-1 Anker dongle and through my CableCreation DVI/VGA/HDMI dongle. For the TV, I have only tried plugging directly into the computer.

When I plug in through Thunderbolt 3 port, I get the 60fps to work. When I plug in through by regular USB-C port or through my native HDMI port, I get ~45.

This only happens when my laptop's built-in display is disabled. If I enable it, 60fps works like normal

    What is going wrong?

My GPU is an RTX 2070 MaxQ. Latest nVidia driver.

USB-C/Thunderbolt is always going to be faster. Also since this test runs in a web browser, your mileage will vary.

Your answer does not explain anything and makes no sense whatsoever. Please read the whole post before answering. As I said, if I had my external monitor and internal monitor both active, then the external would display 60fps. If only the external was active, then it would not reach 60fps.

Anyways, I just did a clean driver installation with Gigabyte's provided nVidia drivers, and the issue seems to be fixed now. I will try reinstalling nVidia's drivers later

Again, see Post #2. The ports refresh rate varies. USB-C/Thunderbolt speed is faster than HDMI. You cannot get a true test of refresh rate through some website, since your test results are going to vary and you cannot base what your hardware is capable of by anything on some website.

USB-C/Thunderbolt is going to end up replacing HDMI & Display Port at some point on computing devices when mfg’s for hardware, software, and drivers get their act together.

You honestly don't know what you are talking about here (and don't appear to actually be reading the posts). I am talking about a 1080p 60Hz monitor. Speeds of the ports are irrelevant at this point.

When I made the post, the monitor was displaying 60Hz under the following conditions:
    • When it was attached by any means and when the laptop's display was also active
    • When it was attached through my Thunderbolt port (as opposed to my other USB-C port or my HDMI port)

Your explanation does not make any sense, because whether or not the laptop's built-in display was active or not would not affect the speeds of these ports.

Also, as I wrote after using my laptop manufacturer's RTX drivers, the issues seems to have disappeared.
