I'm not experienced in changing the fan settings. However, click on the settings button (leftmost of the 3 under the "fan speed" bar). Select the "fan" tab. Check the "enable user defined software automatic fan control" box. This is what follows for mine:

Like "Helmut" posted (and I doubted), the fan speed goes to 100% at the max temperature. (100% fan is much too noisy for my card.) You may need to adjust your fan speed profile to keep the card cooler than Asus's stock settings. I hope that you can do that without making it too noisy.

If you can post a similar shot, maybe someone can give more detailed advice. I don't have a 1660ti.

@tushar4544 you can undervolt the card. It will help lower the temperature and maintain boost.

Please note that the lowest Voltage possible all depends on the silicon quality of the GPU.

If the Voltage is set too low the benchmark will lock-up or just crash back to the desktop.

Click on the three bars to open the Voltage/Frequency curve editor. Click on a lower Voltage curve point and drag it upwards so that it equal to maximum boost frequency of the GPU, then click the "Apply button" on the skin.

Use the Superposition 1080p Extreme benchmark to test the new curve. The GPU frequency and temperature is shown in the top right corner when running the benchmark.

UNIGINE Benchmarks

Don't save the new custom curve to a profile till you are sure it is stable.
To save the new custom curve click on the small "Lock", click the "Save button", select a flashing profile number, click on the "Startup button" if you want the profile to automatically load at startup and finally click on the small Lock button again.





You can set the fan speed update period to 2000ms.

thnx for all this i dont understand it i dont want to risk my new gpu too and its fine till 1080p and temperature rises above 1080p resolution i made biggest mistake that i got this card i was about to get msi 1660 ti ventus

Can you show what the fan speed profile is for the card? (See post number 30.) I wonder whether it ever goes to 100%?

What 1660Ti do you have exactly? Depending on the AIB cooler, 80-85c is normal for many cards and within the threshold. GPU Boost 4.0 is made to maintain high clock frequencies at and around 80c on Nvidia cards. Anything over and the card will simply throttle the boost frequencies. Again, it depends on the AIB cooler.

i have asus gtx 1660ti dual and what is throttle it easily goes above 80

Throttling of the base clock, under 1530 MHz, is not good.
Throttling of the boost clock, under 1830 MHz, is normal.

I have said it before; 80c and up to 85c with a marginal increase/decrease is honestly not something you should be concerned about for this particular card. It runs hot because how it was designed. The sensible thing you can do is to increase the fan curves like we've been pointing out earlier, or ignore it, unless it hits thermal limits and starts to downclock your base frequency during gaming.

I have now set fan curve now and also at 4k resolution temperature goes above 85 but at 1080p is normal 59° this card is beadt though it is running battlefield 4 ultra 1080p with resolution scale 150% no fps drop its constant

my gpu boost clock is 1830mhz why it showing 1970 in game? i have not overclocked anything
