Dell optiplex 960sff and nVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS 1GB PCIe 2.0 x16 Singl

I just got a good deal on a GPU for my old OptiPlex 960 sff and on Newegg it says it will work here is the link

But after I went to the EVGA site and it says I need a 350w PSU. Will this card work? I do not do any gaming and would like to go to 2 monitors and for 25bucks I figured I could utilize the PCI interface.

At a guess, it'll be OK. The spec'd TDP (thermal design power) is only 20W, so I think that the eVGA requirements are overdone, if power usage of the PC in whole doesn't stress the PSU.

Two other things:

It's a PCI-Express card, not a PCI one. (That's OK; the OptiPlex has a PCI-E X16 slot.)

It's a fairly ancient card. nVidia Win10 driver support for it ends with 342.01, dated 14 December, 2016.

What's with "25 bucks"? The card in your link is over $71US. The eVGA 8400GS in my link is $40.

I got a new one sealed off ebay, the card I linked on Newegg is the same card and shows my PC as supported.

Good.

There are newer, better supported cards (like a 750ti), but you won't get one for $25US.

Yeah I basically just want to hook up 2 monitors for my wife and figured for 25 bucks it was worth the risk if it doesn't work.

Its a new PSU that I installed 3 weeks ago, I don't game on it and basically I would like to to run 2 monitors. Otherwise this pc is used for youtube and writing short stories.
