Recommendation for Video Card for my office computer--Non-gaming

    Hi all--

My office is using me as a guinea pig for Windows 10. I am using an Acer ET322Qu monitor, which supports resolution up to 2560x1440. Right now, my computer maxes out at 1920x1080, which means that text looks wretched. My HP box only has the intel integrated graphics, unfortunately.

My IT guy has authorized me to buy a graphics card to put into my HP computer, so I can sharpen up my graphics. Can you folks recommend a graphics card, preferably inexpensive, that will let me use my monitor's abilities? I use Word, Chrome, Outlook mostly. I <don't> need any gaming abilities. The monitor has VGS/Displayport/HDMI inputs.

Thanks in advance for any reccos!!

    Peter

It is an HP Compaq 8200 Elite Small Form Factor. No. A7K56ut#ABA. I'm told I need a PCI express card.

    Thanks!

Please be aware of the output interfaces on the graphics card.

The Acer ET322Qu has VGA, DisplayPort, and HDMI interfaces. The MSI card in the link has no DisplayPort output. It has VGA, HDMI, and DVI.

    According to nVidia, the GT710 can't do 2560 X 1440 in VGA: GeForce GT 710 | Specifications | GeForce

You may be OK using the HDMI interface. You may have to buy a cable. They aren't expensive online. Example: https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-115...gateway&sr=8-1

As far as I know, there are no adapters from DVI to DisplayPort, although there are many from DP to DVI. The DVI ouput on the card may be of no use with the Acer monitor.

Right, I will be using an HDMI connector. Will that give me a satisfactory refresh rate?
