There are indeed DVI to Display port adapters. Im using one for my Dell monitor.
Good. Can you suggest a make/model?

I searched both Amazon and Newegg. They showed many DP to DVI, but I didn't find one going the other way.

Is it passive or active? The DP-to-DVI look to be passive.

Hmm, am I thinking of it backwards? I did find one, but it wont give him the resolution he wants

I should be able to use the HDMI port into the Acer; that should give me sufficient resolution, right?

Right, I will be using an HDMI connector. Will that give me a satisfactory refresh rate?
You will need a HDMI 1.4 cable.

HDMI :: Manufacturer :: HDMI 1.4 :: Finding the Right Cable

    I suggest this -

Monoprice Certified Premium High Speed HDMI Cable, [email protected], HDR, 18Gbps, 28AWG, YUV 4:4:4, 6ft, Black - Monoprice.com

    Enjoy.

But this card says it will refresh at 24 hz via hdmi. Seems really low. Won’t I see flicker?

What about Asus GT 1030? On sale for 69 bucks.

Check that again or post the link. 24hz with HDMI is insane.

    Here's the Amazon link:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

"Hdmi connectors is maximum resolution 4096 x 2160 at 24 hz"

Now, I only want to run 2560x1440 at most; would this be ok? I can use HDMI with my monitor. Or, should i get a better card? I cant find out the refresh rate at this resolution; frustrating....

I found the specs. You can do better.
    It's a low-end card.

    What do you expect?

BTW - have you updated the onboard Intel graphics drivers?
You might want to run this first...

Download Intel(R) Driver & Support Assistant

Nothing wrong using 1920x1080 at all!

Understood it's low end. All I want is a reasonably priced card that will let me take advantage of my monitor's 2560x1440 in an office environment. The monitor has Displayport/HDMI/VGA.

I'm not doing any gaming; just Word/Outlook/Chrome. Office stuff.

If you could recommend a card that will do this, MANY THANKS!

    Hi.

I don't know if you need a discrete graphics card - see my post above...

    Do this first -

Download Intel(R) Driver & Support Assistant

    Let me know what happens...

Perhaps the monitor is not calibrated correctly.
