issues with resolution on amd 7900 series

Hello all. I have a radeon 7900 series card and ive tried everything since updating to windows 10 last night that I can think of to get this to work and its not happening. On windows 8 I ran my resolution on 1920x1080 with no issues whatsoever (I believe I had to check or uncheck the box the edid in the amd catalyst control to do so though if I recall) and then it would appear when I right clicked the desktop and hit display settings. But in windows 10 it defaults to 1600x900 with the highest I can go being 1600x1200. Its a blurry nasty looking mess. I have the latest amd drivers for my card for windows 10. Ive even uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times with no such luck.

Ive gone into amd catalyst control and gone to my vga displays unchecked use edid and selected 1920x1080. It gets somewhat close to what it used to be, but its still blurry and looks way off but better than what window 10 defaults it to. But the thing is, if I go to the desktop (or in amd catalyst control and click desktop management) it shows that my desktop is at 1600x900. What is going on here? Ive also had to enable gpu scaling to get everything to fit on the screen, something I never had to do before either. Im totally lost, ive tried just about everything that I can at least think of and nothing seems to work.

Anyone have any ideas or tips on what to do? I just dont understand whats going on. Also I should note I went into the display adapter settings and had it "show all modes" and it then pops up the 1920x1080, but only at like 25hertz and 29hertz, all interlaced. So those come up as 4 tiny screens all flashing insanely fast. I just remember on windows 8 all I had to do was was uncheck the edid box and hit 1920x1080 and hit apply then go to desktop right click hit display and change resolution to 1920x1080 and viola I was done! Perfect.

    Thanks all

    PS:

Pretty sure my video card is a amd radeon 7970

    Heres my monitor as well

Ok so I found a workaround for now. I have always had this monitor hooked up via dvi. I hooked it up via hdmi instead and it instally went to 1920x1080. So I guess for now that will work and ill have to do without my kindle fire tv for a few days until I can go get another hdmi cable. I still feel as though this site looks a bit blurry but everything else looks crisp on my desktop. This is a weak workaround and something that shouldnt need to be done to solve it.

Only issue im having now is some websites, for example this site, the fonts look off. Almost a bit blurry. If I disable smooth edging in the advanced system options it fixes it, but then it screws with other stuff which is far worse looking. Not really sure whats going on here. Im curious if theres somethin maybe in catalyst control I could look into to possible help with this issue now that the big main issue is solved? Sorry for the massive amounts of posts, just trying to get all the information out there and hopefully help someone.

Sounds like it's out of phase, which really shouldn't be happening over HDMI, only really happens on VGA, is there an auto-detect feature on your monitor? try pressing that and see if it works.
