KB 4507435 has disturbed HDMI relay to TV - how to restore viewing?

After Cumulative Update installed yesterday, 18/07/2019, showing as KB4507435, the relay to TV is disrupted.

Never had a problem using a HDMI cable from laptop to TV until now.

Image is elongated and impossible to watch. Also in apps such as VLC the lower controls (Play, Pause, FFwd etc) are not accessible.

It seems too much of a coincidence that this has happened following the Update.

Can anyone tell me how to remedy this ?

It is not a Windows or VLC problem. The Flatscreen screen size vs what the display properties of the media is the issue.

    Hi bro67,

the thing is this combination (laptop and tv set) has been successfully used for a long time. Again it seems strangely coincidental that the display on the TV should suddenly distort (elongate) right after the Update.

Has zero to do with your laptop, it is the size properties for resolution of the videos that is the problem.

Do you know how this resolution can be changed? (Odd though that the same series played well prior to this event)

Not in the media itself if it was made to be a lower resolution to begin with.

    Thank you bro67
I'm out of my depth now (not a techie) and remain curious as to how I was able to watch the same video series for so long without this problem.
Ah life ... it sends them doen't it?

May I quickly thank everyone on this question of mine.

Try to open the video control panel and adjust the resolution. I see you have a radeon. In my Nvidia control panel I always have to readjust the size for the TV after a driver update.
