    Extended screen with wndows 10

I have a new HP laptop and an LG external monitor and want to extend the screen.
As a starting point, I tried to extend the screen just using the laptop and the monitor.
I pressed the windows icon and "P".
Four options appear. "PC screen only", "duplicate" and "second screen only" all work.
However, "extend" option appears not to work.
The monitor has the expected image (if a website is opened) and an operational mouse pointer. However, the laptop screen shows none of the webpage and shows only the wallpaper image present when the device is turned on. The mouse pointer can be moved between screens.
The web page is certainly not extended across two screens.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks Michael.

Hi Michael welcome to 10F. Extend feature doesn't apply to programs only to desktop. Can't you just drag the right side of let's say browser to monitor ? Once you close it in that state it should open again on both screens.

What CountMike said. I run dual monitors on my laptop in extend mode. Be advised that while you can make an open window span both monitors, it the two monitors are different sizes its going to look weird. Reading text that goes from one to the other could be a pain too especially if the DPI changes. IMHO it will be a headache and like give you headaches.

I'm using two 27" monitors side by side and still looks weird because of bezels in between them, I could just imagine two different sizes and resolutions.

I run triple monitors on my desktop 4:3 - 16:9 - 4:3 aspect ratios. I notice the weirdness when dragging an open window from one screen to the other.

Nvidia has a surround PhysX option, if the two monitors are the same resolution, that I believe compensates for the bezels, or tries to anyway so text etc at least lines up correctly and you don't miss a letter etc when it spans monitors..

Thanks heaps for the reply. My intention is to open a program and extend it over 2 screens. From what you have said that, is that not possible?

It's possible if you extend it yourself but I'm not sure how would it look like having part in one resolution or size and different on another.

Its doable, you just resize it by manually dragging the borders. You may not like how it looks in the end though.
