Laptop screen goes blank after Windows 10 boots if HDMI is plugged in.

A few weeks ago, my Acer laptop began behaving oddly. This began suddenly and persists. When I turn it on, I can see the Acer startup screen, as usual. After Windows 10 boots, the screen goes blank IF the HDMI is plugged in. If the HDMI is not plugged in, there is no problem and if the HDMI is plugged in with the receiver and the TV turned on, there is no problem. I've tolerated this for some time now, but I'm looking for solutions. Thanks

What troubleshooting have you already done? [always include this]

    Swapped out the HDMI cable?

Anything done to the system right before this started? (like new video driver? CMOS/BIOS update?)

What is the laptop model #?

Otherwise, if impatient I would call Acer tech support, Canadian branch, they've probably heard that one before, and if Acer has good support, then knowledge base entries with the solutions to walk you through might already exist?

It can happen if you do not enable on the laptop to allow mirroring to a second display. It is the nature of the beast due to manufacturers who believe that when you use an external monitor, you do not need the onboard.
