Hp dv7-4000/dv6-3000 series amd gpu drivers not working anymore.

Hi. I just hope that the dv7 or dv6 series amd gpu drivers hd4250 + hd5650 would be able to get working again with newest windows. Hp windows7 drivers sp49517 was working in windows10 16.09 version but after that i only get error code43. I have tried every version to newest 19.03. So if there is solution for this problem please let me know. Many thanks!

Hi kingis. Welcome to the TenForums @kingis

I would head to the official AMD site and find the latest driver they have for your display adapter.

I would use DDU to uninstall what ever may be there now.

Official Display Driver Uninstaller DDU Download

Think the latest driver version I saw at AMD was 13.4 for windows 8 as I think you are using the Mobility HD4250

I got lucky, my dv6 has Nvida drivers. Good luck.

Thanks Caledon Ken but those 13.4 drivers do not work. Only drivers that installs is the sp49517 but for some reason they just do not work anymore. I don think that it is unfixable problem because they worked fine in 16.09 version. Maybe some weird windows bug.

One way or another the old gear is being pushed out. I have some really old desktops and put Windows 10 on them to lend to customers. The very old AMD drivers works but it will not awaken from sleep, system awakens and screen powers up with no image. If I use generic drivers then sleep isn't offered.

If a Windows glitch you may have to roll back and try again in a few months. Not sure they are going to fix unsupported hardware.

You did use DDU just to ensure conflicts are not they issue between different loads.

    Good luck.

I wonder where HP is getting version 16 if AMD only produce to 13.4 in the Mobility series?

When you say the 13.4 drivers don't work, do they just fail to load?

    Screen black?

    Power options gone?

It just installs the 4200 series driver and not 5650. And even when device manager says that the 4200 series driver is installed and when i click it open, it says that this device does not have driver installed. I also tried catalyst 15.7 for hd5650 but it just gives code 43. Sp49517 also has this nothbridge filter driver which seems to be very important. The correct drivers name are amd m880g with ati mobility radeon hd4250 and ati mobility radeon hd 5650. I have also tried to install in safe mode.

What is the exact model of your laptop and whatCPU does it have? With the age, I would also suspect that the drivers for 8/10 were never okayed by HP/Compaq. Call it planned obsolescence to sell product and keep the shareholders happy.

Open up Powershell and run ‘gwmi win32_Processor’ then post the results from PS to a post. See this for the script to pull GPU info. Powershell Get-WmiObject Win32_VideoController Multiple Graphics Cards - Spiceworks. This will pull the info up in cmd.exe wmic path win32_VideoController get name
